1 and 2 Grove Lane

(Scheduled in the 1974 Village Plan as a building which the Secretary of State had agreed to include in the statutory list)

The Appreciation had a thing about the garage door here (at the far end of the building), mentioning it three times and commenting that it marred the building ~ "soldier brick arch and pine doors quite out of character". Somebody was even then putting the matter to rights: the pine doors were painted almost immediately after the Appreciation photograph was taken, and the arch was later curved to match the rest of the windows.

The cottages are now combined, with the former no 2 used for holiday lettings and its original door converted into a window.
