Linton Cottage
(In the Appreciation as "House on south side of Weymouth Road")

Named from Linton Hill, visible in the background, and built in 1925, this was once a police house, and has changed hands only infrequently since. Now greatly enlarged since 1973, it is a guest house. The Appreciation describes it as "ugly but screened by trees, though visible on way out of village". The photograph on the right shows that, ugly or not, it is now so screened by trees that it is no longer visible ~ indeed, it is quite invisible ~ from the original viewpoint, even though it has more than doubled in size since 1973.
