Abbotsbury Antiques

(In the Appreciation as "Barn next to 30 West Street")

(Scheduled in the 1974 Village Plan as a building which the Secretary of State had agreed to include in the statutory list)

Appearing in that 1974 Village Plan list simply as a workshop, this little building has seen a few changes in more recent years.

In the late 1990s, it was the shop and workshop for Iris Way (who moved here from her base at the Flower Bowl in Market Street), where she made and sold colourful cushions and exotic waistcoats, and ran a clothes alteration service, before deciding to work direct from home.

At that point it became Abbotsbury Antiques, a brocante run as a retirement hobby, selling all sorts of things ~ the bicycle on the pavement is actually a sale item, but could equally have provided healthy transport home for the shop owner, who lives little more than a hundred yards away.
