Red Lane ~ former Barn

(Unlisted)
Now you see it, now you don't. It's difficult to know where a building as temporary as this, but people with long memories of the village are sure that this was about the right spot, on the left-hand side near the top of red Lane. It's not surprising that it has gone ~ the roof was corrugated iron, the doors were plywood, and the walls were a mixture of rubble and breeze block. The author of the Appreciation sensitively said only that it "should be refaced if possible".
The area beyond it has been levelled out over the years, and there is some local scepticism over the belief that it was once ever a quarry for iron ore.
