1a Hands Lane

(Unlisted)

This was at one time the police house for the village: the Rural District Council bought it in 1971, along with the surrounding land, with a view to erecting some bungalows for elderly people, later to be known as Bishops Close.

The walls of the house were white at the time of the Appreciation, which recommended that they be toned down, as the house was very visible from the western approach to the village ~ though it may not be clear from the monochrome photographs in the printed version of this study, it seems that the advice was heeded, as the house is now a more muted cream colour.
