According to a local newspaper feature of the time, Charlie White and his wife were living here in 1987 ~ Mr White's father, Mawson White, was one of three brothers who farmed at New Barn overlooking the Fleet, retiring to different houses in Abbotsbury.
The author of the "Appreciation" clearly didn't like this house, describing it as a "1940's villa, completely out character" (but it is at least twenty years older than that), and asking the quite reasonable question "How did a bow fronted villa come to be built in one of the most attractive streets in Abbotsbury ?"
The present occupants have done all they can to improve the appearance of the house ~ white soffits and window frames with black guttering and downpipes have taken the place of the all-green paintwork on doors, windows, gutters and pipe work that was here in 1973, and the mass of pebble-dash has been broken down by the use of slates on the two bay windows.
